OUR NAMES DO NOT APPEAR
by Judy Lev (Labensohn)

PAPERBACK RELEASE JUNE 19

When childhood grief is silenced, mourning goes underground and may last a lifetime. In this hybrid memoir Judy Lev blends memories, facts, retrieved documents, letters real and imagined, short fiction and personal essays to grieve the loss of her baby brother Joey in 1951, when Lev was five.

Our Names Do Not Appear explores the long-term effects of family silence, as Lev ponders who else died on the day she learned of Joey’s death. Lev celebrates the use of imagination as an important tool in the redemptive trek through the chaotic landscape of loss.

Genendy Radoff, author of The Price of Truth: A true story of child sexual abuse in the Orthodox Jewish world -- and one girl's courage to survive and heal (Lioness Books, 2019)

Elana Sztokman edited and published my memoir, The Price of Truth and it was an all around wonderful experience!  Elana is honest, professional, generous, and culturally sensitive.  She made it a priority that my authentic voice be heard in the way that I needed it to be.  She made it clear that she believed in me as a person and a writer and she supported me in marketing and publicity. I am so grateful!!

The Story of Lioness Books

Amplifying women's voices. Helping women find their power.

My name is Dr. Elana Sztokman, founder of Lioness Books and Media.

I started Lioness for women like you and me, women doing passionate work in the world whose voices need to ring loudly. Women from all backgrounds and cultures (including non-conforming/non-binary/trans), each one with her own unique journey and vision for the world.

In the course of my 25-year career as a feminist writer, researcher, and activist, I have had the privilege of meeting so many Lionesses, inspiring women who dedicate their lives to vital issues in the world. I have met women tackling topics such as sexual abuse, disabilities, the environment, peace, LGBTQ, sex trafficking, domestic violence, education, sexuality, and more. Lionesses.

Lioness Books and Media aims to amplify the voices of amazing women like you. I want to hold up the megaphone so you can get your ideas out into the world with passion and power.

Lioness is about more than books. It's about using your book as a platform to take your place as an author-expert in the world.

Does this sound like you? Send me a message and we'll talk! Maybe even roar.
